Your Councillors

A Councillors' role

Councillors are elected to represent an individual geographical unit on the council, known as a ward or – mainly in smaller parishes – the entire parish or town council area. They are generally elected by the public every four years.

Register Of Interests

All members, co-opted members of district, and parish councils must complete a register of interests form to register their financial and other interests.

I have been acquainted with St Breock Parish and its rural beauty for nearly 50 years and have owned our cottage in Burlawn for the last 25. An RAF Veteran of 37 years, I saw service, flying helicopters, all over the world and whilst living in many places have always considered Cornwall as home. I still work in the aviation industry but fortunately I can do so from home.St Breock is a large rural parish surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty but populated a relatively small number of residents. My main interest is to maintain the rural character of the parish, whilst doing everything possible to see that local residents and their growing families are still able to have the houses available to stay connected to their roots.

Having moved to St Breock from neighbouring St Kew parish in 2009 we love the rural nature of the parish and thoroughly enjoy exploring the local footpaths with our dogs. We are also regular river users and can often be seen paddle boarding on the estuary.

I was born in our family home in Wadebridge in 1967 and been in business here since I was 19. I feel strongly about local young people being able to afford to buy their homes in our area and have always been involved with giving back to the town/parish through fund raising or various committees. The last 7 years I have lived in the Parish.”

I have lived and worked as a professional artist in rural Cornwall for almost fifty years, bringing uptwo children and now enjoying five grandchildren - all living locally. I have experience of singleparenting, education provision, planning, environmental issues and farming problems - all withinthe scope of my family. I believe that I have a good understanding of local politics after twelveyears as a parish councillor in Withiel (eight as chair) and now as a new member of the St BreockParish Council. I have been Vice Chair of the Camel Valley Area CAP (Cornwall Area Partnership)for two years, giving me a good general knowledge of key matters in North Cornwall. I amespecially interested in preservation of the local environment and wildlife.
